I know that expressing love within the family can feel awkward or even shy.

But I truly believe that preserving these everyday memories helps us connect more deeply now and in the future.

私は一般的な日本の家庭で育ったので海外の家庭のように

ハグしたり電話したりましてやI love youと言い合ったりなんて

なんだか気まづくてできませんし両親からもそういったコミュニケーションは発生しません。

家族の思い出において楽しかった事もあるけれど嫌だった思い出ももちろん多くあり、

家族という存在について時折考え、難儀だなあと人並みに考えたりなんかします。

それでも、実家には私が小さい頃に両親が撮った写真をまとめた大量のアルバムが本棚に鎮座しています。

そこには素朴で平凡な愛情があり、絶対に優しい気持ちで撮られた写真たちが残っていて

この時両親は確かに私を慈しんでいてそれはとっても確かなものだったんだと気づくことができる。

家族という存在は綺麗事だけでまとめられるものではないけれど

こうした日々の写真を残すことはきっと、I love you と言い合う事と同義かもしれない。
